What Does a Tree Groundsman Do?

The duties of a tree groundsman vary depending on the type of work they are assigned. On any given day, they may be responsible for mowing lawns, trimming trees and hedges, caring for new plants, and cleaning up debris. They also need to make sure the exterior is safe by removing any ice or snow that may have accumulated. To carry out these tasks, tree groundsmen must use a variety of equipment, such as pruning shears and wood chippers.

In addition to general maintenance, they must also shape ornamental trees and shrubs to meet customer standards. The three most popular employers for tree groundsmen are Brigham Young University, The Davey Tree Expert Company, and Bartlett Tree Experts.
